More specific than a generic PE film enquiry
PE-based films can serve as sealant webs, inner layers or flexible protective films. Formulation, layer design and surface treatment can change the way a grade seals, handles, prints or performs, so the RFQ should describe the required outcome and test conditions.

Name the performance job
Low-temperature sealing, antifog, easy-open behavior, puncture resistance, surface protection and barrier are different qualification paths.
Place the PE layer correctly
State whether the film is a standalone web, an inner sealant or part of a PE-rich laminate, plus the layers it must bond or seal to.
Translate the issue into conditions
Share line speed, jaw settings, dwell, pressure, fill contamination and storage exposure when sealing or runnability is the buying problem.

01What makes a PE film “functional”?+
The term describes a film designed or selected for a defined job beyond a generic PE web. That job might involve sealing, surface behavior, optics, toughness, protection or another measurable requirement. The exact construction and test target should be named in the sourcing brief.
02Which sealing data should be included in an RFQ?+
Share the sealing equipment, jaw temperature range, dwell time, pressure, line speed, fill contamination and required seal behavior. If a current film is failing, include the failure mode and how it is measured.
03Can functional PE film be used as both a standalone web and a sealant layer?+
The role depends on the grade and structure. State whether the film will run alone, be laminated, or serve as the product-contact seal layer so supplier matching starts from the correct construction.
04Can one functional PE grade replace a multilayer laminate?+
Not as a blanket substitution. Barrier, stiffness, optics, sealing, conversion and compliance requirements must be compared at the complete-structure level and validated on the intended line.
